Bio

Wanda Raimundi-Ortiz is an internationally recognized interdisciplinary artist whose work has been exhibited at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (2020), The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts and Culture (2020), The Corcoran School of the Arts & Design at the George Washington University (2019), Project 35: The Last Act, Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, Moscow, RAPID PULSE International Performance Art Festival, Defibrillator Gallery, Chicago (2013). She was included in Elia Alba’s Supper Club series (2012-19), exhibited alongside artists such as Xaviera Simmons, Wangechi Mutu, Shaun Leonardo, Kalup Linzy, Latoya Ruby Frazier, Matthew Barney, Shirin Neshat, Renee Cox, to name a few. Commissions include National Museum of Women in the Arts: Reclamation: Recipes, Remedies and Rituals; Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery’s Identify: Performance as Portraiture series (2017), Franklin Furnace Awardee (2016), Orlando Museum of Art’s Florida Prize in Contemporary Art (2015), represented the USA in ICA’s Project 35 international traveling video exhibition, United States Artists award nominee (2016), featured in American Chambers: Post 90’s American Art, exhibition, Gyeongnam Art Museum, South Korea (2011), Manifesta 8 European Biennial (2010)

Upcoming exhibitions include Garmenting: Costume as Contemporary Art at the Museum of Arts and Design, NYC (2022) and “Constant Storm: Art from Puerto Rico and the Diaspora” University of South Florida, Vida, Muerte, Justicia (Life, Death, Justice) at The Project Space at Weber State University’s Mary Elizabeth Dee Shaw Gallery, Utah.
